In anticipation of the imminent launch of Android 14.0, OPPO has approached frog for an 8-week engagement to collaborate on refining its card visual system, aiming to provide a rejuvenated experience for ColorOS14.
The OPPO team aims to build upon the success of their distinctive 'Aquamorphic' design in ColorOS13, with a renewed focus on embodying the essence of fluidity. This involves delivering a seamless system experience, refreshing visuals, and intuitive interactions to enhance the overall user experience.

frog was commissioned to elevate OPPO's distinctive 'Aquamorphic' design, aiming to deliver a revitalised experience for ColorOS14. This involved optimising 32 sets of widgets within a unified Card Service System, pushing the boundaries to ensure a cohesive and enhanced user experience.

Establish a comprehensive Card Service System that can be seamlessly implemented across various widgets, creating a consistent and intuitive user experience that aligns to the theme of ‘Aquamorphism’.

The team initiated a thorough evaluation of the existing card service system, delving into its framework, design, features, functions, and interactions across all applications.
Building upon a solid understanding of OPPO's strategic direction, we proceeded to conceptualise and explore potential design directions, with a focus on revitalising the theme of 'Aquamorphism' for the new operating system. This involved infusing the values and qualities of 'water' into the design to create meaningful and intuitive interactions for users.
Weekly review sessions were established with the OPPO design team to review our proposed concepts and designs, ensuring alignment and satisfaction. Our close collaboration with the OPPO design team deepened our understanding of their business perspectives, enabling us to deliver solutions that precisely address their business needs.
Upon approval, we then convey the conceptualised design for each respective app to our motion graphic designers, who will bring the vision to life.
In pursuit of establishing a cohesive card service system for OPPO, the team explored and designed a card system logo. This logo not only embodies the values and qualities of 'water' but is also versatile enough to be applied seamlessly to any third-party app, signifying its integration into OPPO's ecosystem.

This comprehensive system is designed for both light and dark mobile themes, showcasing intelligent adaptability to the user's mobile phone status, time, and on-screen content. Out of the 32 sets of widgets, 18 were chosen to be animated, transforming static widgets into dynamic elements that embody the vitality and fluidity inherent in the concept of 'Aquamorphism'.
