As a committed member of BodyFit Training (BFT) in Singapore, I appreciated the thoughtfully curated workouts that positively impacted the local fitness community.
However, the recently launched in-house heart rate monitor, BFT³, and its accompanying mobile application left the community dissatisfied due to a subpar in-app experience. This self-initiated case study aims to explore and enhance the user experience for the BFT³ and its associated mobile application.

The Challenge

There are two distinct BodyFit Training (BFT) mobile applications that users are required to download - one for the newly launched BFT³ heart rate monitor and the other for booking workout sessions.
Firstly, I aim to resolve user pain points and identified gaps within the new BFT³ app.
Secondly, I intend to investigate the feasibility of consolidating both BFT apps into a unified, comprehensive app, ensuring an optimal mobile experience for all users.

The Approach
The Approach
Initiating this project, I conducted a comprehensive design audit of both existing apps to understand their capabilities and identify gaps for improvement.
Additionally, I conducted five 1-on-1 interview sessions with current users to validate their pain points and gather insights for the enhanced super app.
In response to identified blockers, gaps, and wish-list items, I developed wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes. Guided by the principles of convenience, reward, and enjoyment, the aim is to translate the energetic and fun-loving gym community in the physical gym onto the virtual platform.

The newly revamped BFT super app is genuinely 'Different' and 'Better.' It not only resolves key user pain points that previously hindered app usage but also aims to foster increased user engagement through proposed enhanced features.
Feedback from the local BFT community has been positive upon presentation of these proposed enhancements. I am hopeful that BFT will consider adopting and implementing some of these solutions in the app in the future.
